The Centre's draft policy states sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) could cost two to three times more than conventional jet fuel. It proposes financial incentives to boost SAF production and phased blending mandates for airlines: 1% SAF blend in 2027, rising to 5% by 2030, with a 20% target by 2040. SAF can reduce carbon emissions by up to 80%.
