Centre directs OTT platforms to time-stamp visuals and follow IT law

The Union Information and Broadcasting Ministry issued an advisory to OTT platforms, digital news publishers, and intermediaries on November 2, 2026, urging strict adherence to the Information Technology Act, 2000. The advisory highlights nine compliance areas, including time-stamping visuals and AI-generated content, emphasizing content regulation in letter and spirit. It was signed by Deputy Secretary Arpitha S and sent to self-regulatory bodies under the IT Rules, 2021.
