Nearly 4.9 million central government employees and 6.9 million pensioners are expecting a 3-4% increase in their dearness allowance (DA) and dearness relief (DR). Although the hike should have been effective from July 1, the government has not announced it even after 90 days, causing dissatisfaction among employees. The Confederation of Central Government Employees and Workers has planned a protest on October 14, demanding immediate implementation of the DA/DR increase to ease financial strain.
