California Becomes 18th US State to Ban Child Marriage
California has become the 18th state in the US to ban child marriage, a practice still legal in 32 other states. Governor Newsom ended the practice in California, sending a message of hope. Despite this, 32 states still allow minors to marry, with two states having no minimum age requirement. The ban has been celebrated by advocates including Courtney Stodden.
