The Calcutta High Court has stayed the notification for the upcoming Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) election until a single-judge bench decides on a petition challenging the ward delimitation. The number of wards is proposed to increase from 144 to 209. The petition, filed by former CPI(M) councillor Dipu Das, alleges the delimitation process is illegal and demands cancellation of the September 11 gazette notification. The court questioned the administrator's role and the legality of the delimitation.
