Cabinet Extends Fast-Track Courts for Rape, POCSO Cases Till 2031

The Union Cabinet approved extending and expanding the Fast Track Special Courts scheme to expedite rape and child sexual abuse trials under the POCSO Act until March 2031. The number of courts will increase from 779 to 850 across 29 states and UTs. Since 2019, these courts have disposed of over 4.02 lakh cases. The total budget is Rs 3,788.04 crore, funded by the Centre and states. Each court will have dedicated staff to improve efficiency.
