Cabinet Approves 3% DA Hike for Government Employees Before Diwali

The central cabinet has approved a 3% increase in the Dearness Allowance (DA) for government employees, effective from July 1, 2026. This decision benefits over 1.17 crore central employees and pensioners, including 48.54 lakh employees and 68.71 lakh pensioners. The hike will raise monthly salaries, for example, by ₹540 for those with an ₹18,000 basic salary. The move is expected to cost the government around ₹10,016 crore.
