The Indian government has approved a two-year extension for Agniveers, increasing their tenure to six years. The cabinet also approved a new scheme to reduce India's dependence on critical minerals and boost domestic production. Chief of Defence Staff General N.S. Raja Subramani called it a significant day for the armed forces. The revised plan allows all Agniveers to join the armed forces, expanding beyond the earlier 25% regularization based on merit.
