WorldBWSSB Expands to Bengaluru Villages, Faces Low Water Connection Uptake
The Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) has extended its jurisdiction to all villages in Bengaluru Urban district. Despite the Cauvery Stage V project supplying water to 110 villages since 2007, only 35% of the targeted households have applied for connections. BWSSB expected 300,000 connections but received about 100,000 applications. Reluctance stemmed from preference for borewells until groundwater levels dropped in summer 2024, increasing interest.
