Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) has refuted claims that petrol sold at some Karnataka fuel stations contains 26–31% ethanol, exceeding the prescribed 20%. BPCL stated that 893 petrol samples tested across 27 states, including 56 from Karnataka, showed ethanol levels within the 19–21% range, with Karnataka averaging 19.3%.
