ScienceBNHS to Conduct First Nationwide Sarus Crane Survey in October 2026
The Bombay Natural History Society (BNHS) will conduct India's first synchronized nationwide Sarus Crane population survey on October 9 and 10, 2026, from 6 am to 6 pm. BNHS has called on forest departments, research bodies, conservation groups, communities, and citizen scientists to participate. The survey aims to track Sarus Crane numbers, identify key habitats, and support conservation efforts for this iconic wetland bird, the world's tallest flying bird and a cultural symbol in India.
