Black Grouse Translocated to North York Moors Hatch Chicks After 200 Years
In 2024, 20 black grouse were moved from the North Pennines to the North York Moors as part of a conservation effort. This has led to the successful hatching of chicks after 200 years of absence. The project includes habitat restoration and predator management, with an increase in displaying males and plans for further translocations to boost the population.
