Bitou Bush Threatens 46% of New South Wales Coastline
Bitou bush was deliberately planted along the New South Wales coast to stabilize sand dunes but has since spread to cover 46% of the coastline. This invasive plant threatens native vegetation by replacing indigenous species and disrupting animal habitats. A Threat Abatement Plan has been implemented to manage and control the spread of bitou bush across the region.
