Bhupathi and Sania to Join AITA Executive Committee as SOMs

Mahesh Bhupathi and Sania Mirza have been selected as the two Sportspersons of Outstanding Merit (SOM) for the 15-member All India Tennis Association Executive Committee, to be formed after upcoming elections. They were chosen from 40 players and are among four SOMs elected to the AITA General Body. The AITA Constitution allows two SOMs in the EC and four in the General Body. Bhupathi and Sania cannot contest other office-bearer posts. The Delhi High Court will hear a related case on amending the AITA Constitution.
