HealthBengaluru Leads 5 Metros in Vitamin Deficiencies Among Women
Bengaluru has the highest rates of vitamin B12, vitamin D, and haemoglobin deficiencies among women in five major Indian metros, per the India Workforce Health Index 2026. Of 1,723 vitamin B12 tests from Bengaluru, 78.8% were below 300 pg/mL, with 47.9% below 200 pg/mL, indicating biochemical deficiency. Vitamin D deficiency affected 83.9% of 1,686 tests. Pune had the highest vitamin D deficiency overall. Deficiencies can cause fatigue, cognitive issues, and nervous system problems, said Dr Mehta Pantula.
