Beijing to Become Super-Aged with One-Third Over 60 by 2035
Beijing is projected to become a super-aged city by 2035, with about one-third of its population aged 60 and above. At the end of last year, Beijing had 5.29 million permanent residents aged 60+, nearly a quarter of its population. Chinese policymakers are focusing on population planning as part of economic strategy, with a potential 180 billion yuan cost this year to boost births.
