Barclays to Cut 5,000 Jobs Globally by End of 2026 Due to AI Adoption
Barclays plans to cut around 5,000 jobs globally by the end of 2026 as it increases its use of artificial intelligence. The bank has already cut 1,000 jobs, with 4,000 more expected this year, affecting mainly operational and support roles. CEO CS Venkatakrishnan said the cuts are linked to technology investments to improve operations, with AI playing a key but not sole role.
