Award-Winning Tribal Farmer Cheruvayal Raman Dies at 74

Cheruvayal Raman, a tribal farmer from Wayanad known for preserving over 55 varieties of paddy seeds, died on October 14 at age 74. He received the Padma Shri in 2023 for his agricultural contributions. A member of the Kurichiya community, Raman began farming at 17 and was affectionately called Nellachan. His life inspired the film Negalukal. Leaders Priyanka Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi remembered him fondly.

DoT Mandates Caller Name Presentation on 4G and 5G from November

The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has instructed all authorized telecom service providers to implement Caller Name Presentation (CNAP) on 4G and 5G networks nationwide starting November 1. CNAP will also be enabled on future 6G networks. Implementation for 2G, 3G, and landline networks will be decided separately. New TSPs must also adopt CNAP by default, ensuring protection against tampering.
