The average passenger-vehicle loan size in India increased by 49% to ₹8.2 lakh between H1 2019 and H1 2026, driven by a shift towards higher-value vehicles, especially SUVs, and rising vehicle prices, according to TransUnion CIBIL. The average repayment tenure also grew by five months to 62 months, helping borrowers manage larger loans. Semi-urban and rural buyers now represent 51% of those financing higher-value cars.
