Avalanche in Kedartal Claims Lives of Two Lucknow Sisters

On November 4, 2026, sisters Vartika Verma and Deepika Verma from Lucknow died in an avalanche on the Kedartal trekking route in Uttarakhand. They were part of a group of 13 trekkers stranded near Kacchi Dhang after heavy snowfall and avalanches cut off their path. The trek from Gangotri to Kedartal is 26 km long and reaches altitudes of 4,700 meters. The death toll has reached four with two bodies recovered and six members still missing.
