BusinessAutomakers Welcome New CAFE III Norms for Cleaner Mobility
Automakers have welcomed the Indian government's new Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) III norms, effective from April 1, 2027, to March 31, 2032. The norms set progressively stricter fuel-efficiency targets for new M1-category passenger vehicles, improving average fuel consumption by about 16.7%. The framework allows flexibility for multiple technology pathways and was finalized after consultations with industry stakeholders.
