Australian Scientists Cut Wheat Seed Loss to Mice by 63% Using Wheat Germ Oil
Australian scientists developed a non-toxic method to protect wheat seeds from mice by spraying diluted wheat germ oil on farm plots. This treatment masked the scent mice use to find seeds underground. In a 2021 field trial in New South Wales, seed loss dropped by 63% during and after sowing, and by up to 74% when applied before planting.
