Assam to Present First Bhupen Hazarika National Award to Usha Mangeshkar

Assam government will institute the Dr Bhupen Hazarika National Award, with singer Usha Mangeshkar as its first recipient. The award includes ₹10 lakh and a citation, to be presented by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on November 29 in New Delhi. It honors internationally acclaimed artists related to Bhupen Hazarika's work and will be awarded every three years. Assam also raised the Mahapurush Srimanta Sankardev Award prize to ₹15 lakh.
