Asherman syndrome occurs when scar tissue forms inside the uterus, causing the walls to stick together partially or completely. This condition often develops after uterine procedures like dilatation and curettage (D&C) or infections such as genital tuberculosis. It can impair the uterine lining, making embryo implantation difficult and increasing miscarriage risk, thus affecting a woman's ability to conceive and sustain pregnancy, explains Dr. Gaurav Sharma from Indira IVF Hospital, Mumbai.
