Archaeologists Discover 1823 Glasgow Wall Remains
Archaeologists in Glasgow uncovered remains of a 12-foot wall built in the 1820s by a wealthy distiller to block public access to the River Clyde. In 1823, residents tore down the wall, resulting in arrests and a six-year legal battle. The excavation also revealed a rare 1791 trade token with Glasgow's motto, "Let Glasgow Flourish."
