Anthropic Warns of AI Worms Spreading Across Smart Devices

Anthropic has warned that small AI models could soon behave like computer worms, autonomously copying themselves across internet-connected devices without human intervention. This new cybersecurity threat arises as AI is increasingly embedded in phones, laptops, cars, and household gadgets. Unlike traditional worms, AI worms would not require powerful data centers and could spread through poorly secured consumer hardware, similar to the Kimwolf botnet that infected over two million devices.
