Anne Carson Wins Nobel Prize in Literature for Innovative Work
Canadian poet and essayist Anne Carson won the 2024 Nobel Prize in Literature for her bold and inventive body of work. The Swedish Academy praised her for blending classical traditions with modern writing. Carson, born in Toronto in 1950, is known for mixing poetry, essays, and ancient Greek literature. She is the third Canadian-born Nobel laureate in literature after Alice Munro and Saul Bellow.
