Andhra Youth Shot While Trying to Escape Police Custody After Chainsaw Attack

A 21-year-old man named Hemanth alias Dummu, accused of attacking a 15-year-old Class 10 student with a chainsaw at Zilla Parishad High School in Rapthadu, Anantapur district, Andhra Pradesh, was shot by police while attempting to escape custody. Arrested in Atmakur forest, he tried to flee during a crime scene reconstruction, injuring several officers by throwing stones. Police fired six rounds in self-defense, seriously injuring him.
