Andhra Pradesh SEC Halts Elections in 100 Urban Local Bodies on Supreme Court Order

The Andhra Pradesh State Election Commission (SEC) has stopped the election process in 100 urban local bodies, including 13 Municipal Corporations and 87 Municipalities and Nagar Panchayats, following a Supreme Court directive. The elections were scheduled for October 14, with nominations from October 16 to 18 and scrutiny on October 19. The halt follows a Special Leave Petition by YSRCP challenging the High Court's refusal to extend the nomination deadline.
