Alexander Zverev will become the new world number one men's tennis player after Carlos Alcaraz lost in the third round in Shanghai. The 29-year-old German won his first Grand Slam titles at the French Open and US Open this year. Zverev, recovering from a serious ankle injury in 2022, will be the first German to finish the season as top-ranked and the oldest to claim the year-end No. 1 trophy.
