The All India Sugar Trade Association (AISTA) has requested the central government to raise the minimum selling price (MSP) of sugar from ₹31 to ₹42 per kilogram. Despite government measures that slightly reduced sugar prices, rates remain high compared to previous levels. If approved, wholesale and retail sugar prices will increase sharply. The MSP prevents mills from selling sugar below a set price.
