Air India Plans More Widebody Jets and Cost Cuts Under New CEO
Air India aims to expand its widebody fleet and cut costs to achieve profitability quickly, said CEO Tewolde Gebremariam at the Aviation India Summit 2026. The airline already has 80 widebodies on order, including 50 A350s, 20 787s, and 10 777Xs, part of 570 aircraft orders placed after privatisation. The focus is on regaining market share and prioritizing full-service widebody long-haul growth over budget operations.
