AI-Based Smart Fencing Reduces Man-Elephant Conflict in Kerala

Kerala is expanding the use of AI-based smart fencing to prevent wild elephants from entering human habitats after a successful pilot in Wayanad in 2024. The Ele-Fence AI Smart Fence prevented 47 elephant intrusions in South Wayanad's Irulam forest range. Developed by technology expert Mohan Menon, the system uses AI cameras, light, sound, and solar fences. It is now also deployed on the Kochi-Idukki border, providing significant relief to local residents.
