PoliticsAgnipath Scheme First Batch Nears 4-Year Term Completion
The first batch of Agnipath Scheme recruits is approaching the completion of their four-year service term. Navy and Air Force Agniveers will complete their tenure by November 2026, while the Army's first large batch is expected to finish around December 2026 to January 2027. Currently, up to 25% of Agniveers can be retained in regular cadre based on merit. Discussions are ongoing to increase retention to 50-75%. For the remaining 75%, the government has arranged employment options outside the armed forces, including central armed police forces.
