Agnipath Changes Apply Only to Serving Agniveers, New Recruits Serve 4 Years

The government clarified that recent changes to the Agnipath scheme apply only to the nine batches of Agniveers currently serving. New recruits joining after December 2026 will continue under the original four-year service model. The changes include offering a two-year extension to 75% of the current batches, after which they will be absorbed into the regular cadre without limits. The first 25% still move to the regular cadre after four years.

Total vehicle retail sales in October 2026 fell 24% year-on-year to 3,172,466 units, mainly due to a high base effect from last year, according to Federation of Automobile Dealers Association (FADA). October sales rose 25.05% compared to September 2026.
