HealthActivists Demand CCI Probe into High Medicine Prices in Private Hospitals
Public health campaigners have urged the Competition Commission of India (CCI) to investigate private hospitals for charging exorbitant prices on medicines and consumables, violating competition laws. Data shows leading hospitals earned surpluses of Rs 22-56 lakh per bed in 2024-26 after expenses. Activist K M Gopakumar called this an abuse of dominant position and anti-competitive practice, demanding a time-bound CCI investigation.
