AAIB Cites Training and Audit Failures in 2023 Mumbai Learjet Crash

The Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) attributed the September 2023 Learjet crash at Mumbai airport to the crew's decision to continue an unstable approach in poor weather. The AAIB also found lapses in pilot training, record-keeping, and internal audits at VSR Ventures, operator of a Learjet that crashed in Baramati in January, killing Maharashtra deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar and four others. The AAIB recommended DGCA conduct a one-time check of training records for fixed-wing pilots in non-scheduled aviation.
