8th Pay Commission to Submit Report by May 2027, Arrears Possible

The 8th Pay Commission, formed in November 2025 and chaired by former Supreme Court Justice Ranjana Prakash Desai, will revise central government employees' salaries and pensions considering inflation. It will submit its report by May 2027. If implemented retrospectively from January 2026, employees may receive arrears for the period after the 7th Pay Commission ended in December 2025. The fitment factor will determine salary and pension increases.
