75% Agniveers Get 2-Year Service Extension Under Agnipath

Under the Agnipath scheme, about 75% of Agniveers who were to complete their four-year service and return home will now have the option to extend their service by two more years, increasing their tenure to six years. This extension is voluntary. After six years, those wishing to join the regular army must meet selection criteria. The first batch of around 18,300 Agniveers will complete their term by December 2026.
