1983 Air Canada Jet Runs Out of Fuel but Lands Safely
On July 23, 1983, an Air Canada Boeing 767 flying over Manitoba lost engine power due to a 45% fuel shortage caused by ground staff miscalculation. With 61 passengers and 8 crew aboard, pilots glided the plane to an emergency landing on an old military track. All 69 onboard survived with minor injuries, and the aircraft was later restored.
