19 Dead in Durga Puja Stampede in Kolkata, 13 Women Among Victims

A stampede at the Chorbagan Durga Puja pandal in Kolkata on Saturday evening resulted in the deaths of 19 devotees, including 13 women and two children. Twenty-five people were injured, one critically. Authorities detained around 10 members of the pandal committee and security agencies. Chief Minister Shubhendu Adhikari visited the hospital, ordered proper treatment, and announced compensation of ₹25 lakh and a government job for victims' families.
