1834 Métis Labatte House to Move Across Georgian Bay
The historic Labatte House, a Métis home built in 1834 weighing about 75,000 pounds, will be relocated across Georgian Bay to Balm Beach for preservation. The move aims to establish a museum focused on Indigenous and Métis histories. Restoration will begin soon, with a concrete foundation planned by spring 2027 to support the house at its new site.
