World16 Indian Seafarers Killed in Persian Gulf and Black Sea Conflicts
Conflicts in the Persian Gulf and Black Sea have resulted in the deaths of 16 Indian seafarers, according to Shipping Secretary Vijay Kumar. Since February 28, 11 seafarers died in the Persian Gulf amid missile attacks linked to the US-Iran war, while five died in the Black Sea. The Indian government has repatriated 4,232 seafarers from the Strait of Hormuz, a vital shipping route connecting the Persian Gulf and Arabian Sea.
