10-Metre Ichthyosaur Fossil from 174 Million Years Displayed in Bridport
A 10-metre ichthyosaur fossil dating back about 174 million years has gone on display at Bridport Museum in Dorset. Discovered by Belgian fossil hunters Michel Plissart and Carine Christens on a secluded beach near Bridport, the fossil comes from the Bridport Sand Formation, where ichthyosaurs were not previously recorded. The specimen was studied at the University of Bristol and donated by the landowner. The exhibition runs from October 24, 2026, to April 2027.
