Widow Saves Frank Lloyd Wright Home by Moving It 13 Miles
In 1964, Marjorie Leighey saved the Pope-Leighey House, designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, from destruction caused by Interstate 66 construction. After her husband's death, she rallied preservationists and public support to relocate the house piece by piece to the Woodlawn property. Her efforts preserved this modern architectural treasure, which remains open to visitors today.
