Getty Museum Acquires 17th-Century Velázquez Portrait

The J. Paul Getty Museum has acquired a 17th-century portrait by Diego Velázquez titled Portrait of the Count-Duke of Olivares. This artwork, originally commissioned for Cardinal Francesco Barberini in the 1620s, was recently uncovered from a private collection. It is the museum's first Velázquez acquisition and will debut at the Getty Center before touring the Detroit Institute of Arts.
